Advantages and disadvantages of Edmodo (Pros & Cons)

Edmodo’s main advantages and disadvantages is a global educational network that helps connect all students with the people and resources they need to develop their full potential. Edmodo is an LMS (Learning Manager System or Learning Management System) that stands out for its communication, collaboration and videoconferencing tools (Zoom). Currently there are several learning management systems so we are going to present a series of advantages and disadvantages of Edmodo compared to other LMS.

Advantages of Edmodo:

• It is free. In addition it has no premium version so all users can access all options.
• For all audiences. Since an email is not required for initial registration.
• Since it does not require an email address for initial registration.
• Security. It does not allow access to unknown users. In addition, teachers can see the students’ password in case they forget it.
• Easy interface. It has an intuitive design intended for all types of users, especially for beginners.
• It is in constant improvement. It is constantly developing through the great community that it forms.
• Invitations. It allows you to invite family members of students to learn how the system works.

Disadvantages of Edmodo:

• Communication between students. There is no possibility to send direct messages between students
• Does not display online users. Faculty cannot know if their students are currently online.
• No migration to a new system.
• It is not possible to migrate the information posted on the group wall.
