Despite competing with the titan Google, Bing can boast some advantages in its search engine (although it also has some disadvantages). In the end, in the search engine market, it all comes down to the quality of the results offered to us when we perform a search, and not the popularity of the search engine itself.
Although it is true that Bing only holds just over 2% of the global search engine market, compared to the 98% of its competitor Google, it is important to note that in some countries, such as the UK or the US, it has a much higher percentage of approximately 20%.
Advantages and Disadvantages of Microsoft’s Bing browser
Advantages of Bing
- One of the biggest advantages of Bing is its image search engine, which for some users is superior to what we can find in Google’s search engine.
- Because it has a different algorithm, it offers significantly different results, so in some searches it could offer us better what we are looking for.
- Every day they show us a featured image in the background, which is usually quite spectacular.
Disadvantages of Bing
- It has higher load times than Google, so for some it can be a very bad option.
- The video search engine almost never prioritizes YouTube videos, which seems more like a business decision than an intention to show the best result.
- The mapping system is quite worse than what its competition offers us.
In conclusion, it could be said that both Bing and Google not only compete at the level of quality of its search engine, but also rely heavily on everything they design to orbit around the search engine, as is the case of all the services offered by Google (Gmail, Maps…).
